Jojo is a pair of on-ear headphones made from a single cable.
In most headphones the cable is only a functional element. In this concept we embraced it and built the whole object from it.
Starting at the USB-C plug, the cable runs through a small inline remote and winds into the first ear cup. It then forms the headband, rising in one clean arc over the head, before winding into the second cup.
Each ear cup works like a yo-yo. A foam cushion sits on the inside, a turning cover on the outside, and the cable winds loosely in the gap between them. Turning the cover winds the cable in or lets it out, shortening or lengthening the headband to adjust the fit. The cushion stays in place against the ear while the cover, hub and driver rotate. A ratchet in the hub clicks in small steps, so the cable stays locked wherever the fit is set.
The cable is imagined with a thin metal core running through the headband only, giving it the light clamp that keeps headphones on the head. The coiled parts in each cup stay soft and flexible, so the clamp never gets in the way of winding.
